John Fullbright
John Fullbright is a Moab Folk Festival favorite, having performed at four prior folk festivals, and having won the People’s Choice award three consecutive years.
Fullbright’s music is known for its country-folk flair, and definitely falls under the wide umbrella of Americana. In 2014, Fullbright’s debut studio album, From the Ground Up was nominated for a Grammy award for “Best Americana Album.” The album had been released two years earlier to critical acclaim, and also won the ASCAP Foundation’s Harold Adamson Lyric Award.
The New York Times compared Fullbright’s music to Guy Clark. National Public Radio referred to Fullbright, as “one of the 10 Artists You Should Have Known in 2012, comparing him to great songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Randy Newman. His lyrics have been described as “glowing with purity, wisdom, and poignant emotion.”
Festivalgoers can expect to hear songs from his most recent album The Liar, as well as some older tunes and likely some cover songs. He will be performing as part of a duo, with guitarist Stephen Lee.
“We’re excited to get back there,” (to Moab), Fullbright said. “I love it there. I’m excited to see everyone again.”
